What is everyone reading this month? I need some really good suggestions to get me out of rut. I can't wait for Breaking Dawn, but it comes out the day that I have to move and drive myself across the country, so I'm a little sad I can't read while someone else drives. I've already re-read all three Twilight books.
I did have a Edward vs. Jacob list I had been working on while in Utah, but for some reason I can't find it on my computer anymore. I'm not sure I want to remake the whole thing, so it might have to wait. Sorry to disappoint anyone that can't figure out why I love Jacob. Short and simple reasons: I think that Jacob is right for Bella because they can have a family and grow old together, I don't think that he is as immature as everyone says he is, he acts his age. I also think he sounds so cute in the second book - tall dark, muscular. He is her sunshine and you can't resist that. I also think that Edward tries to control Bella too much and is far too protective, it drives me crazy how over the top he gets. I'm not sure it's healthy. I don't think that Jacob will win in the end, and that makes me sad. I do hope he at least comes back.

Hattie Big Sky
LOVED this book! Has anyone read it? I saw it on a fellow book blog and she gave it 5 stars, so when I saw it at Target while on vacation I picked it up. Really good story and very good information about history. It's a YA book about Hattie a 16 year old girl who ventures out on her own to Montana to prove up on her late uncles claim. The book covers one year of her live. I was mixed when I first read the ending, but after re-reading the last few pages I thought it fit well.
I'll probably write more on it this week on My Reading Spot.
If you've like any Bess Street Aldrich, I think you would really like this one.
What is everyone reading this month before the big Breaking Dawn?

My take on The Host
I just spent way too much of my day reading The Host. I have to say that I really did love it. So I can write freely about my thoughts and include spoilers, I will post my review as a comment to this post.

Austenland

I recently went on vacation to Mexico and was able to finish a few books while relaxing and basking in the sun (not to rub it in). This was a fun, quick read. Not overly stimulating or thought provoking but cute and fun.
Here's a brief description:
Jane Hayes is a seemingly normal young New Yorker, but she has a secret. Her obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, is ruining her love life: no real man can compare. But when a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become realer than she ever could have imagined.
Decked out in empire-waist gowns, Jane struggles to master Regency etiquette and flirts with gardeners and gentlemen—or maybe even, she suspects, with the actors who are playing them. It’s all a game, Jane knows. And yet the longer she stays, the more her insecurities seem to fall away, and the more she wonders: Is she about to kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?
I hope you enjoy it!
hello
hey everyone! I've been meaning to do this for a while but have been busy, busy, busy. I'm sure you can all relate. My name is Kelly and I met Debbi in college when she became my roommate at the Courtland Ridge apartments. I didn't know her before we became roommates and was lucky to soon learn that she fit right in!
I live in Windsor, California with my husband Jody and three kids. Ammon 5, Cohen almost 3 and Rylee (my daughter) who will be one next month. Though it can be challenging at times I love being a stay at home mom. I love to read, sew, cook, shop, eat, and I try to be crafty. I'm a sucker for the Twilight series, recently finished books 6 and 7 of Harry Potter and fell back in love with it. I also enjoy books by Jane Austen, Shannon Hale (Goosegirl), Ann Brashares (Sisterhood of the traveling pants), and Nicholas Sparks. Some of my favorite books are Snowflower and the Secret fan, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Memoirs of a Geisha, Pride and Prejudice, and a Woman of Substance. That's just the few I can think of off the top of my head. But there's plenty more. I love to read. When I start a good book I have a hard time doing anything else. For that reason I have to limit myself to reading one or two books a month. Otherwise I will neglect my family!
I'm excited to be apart of this reading group!

The Host
I finished The Host yesterday. I posted some of my thoughts on My Reading Spot, but I would love to discuss it when others finish. I know some are waiting for their turn at the library and I don't want to ruin anything - so just know my reading spot is not entirely spoiler free. I'm dying to talk - so everyone read fast! Have a great weekend!
